the U.K. and Europe as well:

what was to come:

Higher Education is also a target:

A recent, close-up view of Voucher schools in action--

(Excerpt: "The voucher schools feel, and look, surprisingly like schools in the Milwaukee Public Schools district. Both MPS and the voucher schools are struggling in the same battle to educate low-income, minority students.")

Read about it:

And, by the way, Voucher Schools NEVER have to be subject to achievement test scores as do public schools:

Pretty disturbing disclosures and discoveries, some of these.

To see Vouchers, and other so-called "reform" efforts as an
offensive weapon AGAINST Public Education
is something a lot of folks don't really want to do.

I know it's a hard thing to face----It seems
like such a betrayal of our American principles
that some people just aren't ready to acknowledge it--Just too creepy
an idea to be real, for some people. It is an idea we naturally, as Americans, resist.
Just like facing the nasty reality of a son or daughter's drug use, or the possibility that
those human remains in your beloved uncle's basement are evidence that he may be a serial killer.
NO... NO! IT CAN'T BE!! That is our natural reaction.

But the more one looks at the "big picture", the more
alarming the state of things appears to be.

Be ready to face the unthinkable.

WHY?

Because, (almost reminiscent of a typical turning point in some B-budget sci-fi/horror movie), as so many people are now realizing...

This nightmare is really happening.

Yes, I can see the increasing signs of corporate influence in my school.

I think some people on the corporate side have good, and innocent, intentions.

But the CEOs and top decision-makers may be a different story.
They are the ones with the biggest bucks to make, and they may be just hiding behind the good intentions of the "good soldiers" of the business world, who, in many cases, really want to see positive changes, and are not just hiding greedy, power-hungry intentions.

Still, I do wonder about those nearer the top of the corporate food chain.

If there are villains in this, you can be sure they are at, or near, the top.

Business leaders IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, I believe usually have good and honest intentions--After all, they LIVE in the community and would benefit, directly or indirectly, from having better schools and education programs in THEIR OWN localities.

That they may be mislead or manipulated by distant "bigwigs" (or whatever you want to call them) who have more sinister/"pure-profit" motives is entirely plausible.

But the local business leaders in many communities are well-intentioned, generally.

Maybe that is a good argument for keeping LOCAL control of school policies (like testing, etc), inhstead of almost totally FEDERALIZING our Public school systems all around the country, which is effectively what we are in the process of doing now.

And yes, it is ironic that it is those "conservatives" who are so in support of this Federalization process.

What ever happened to states' (and local) rights on this issue?
